Story

I have recently lost a very special person in my life to Cancer. My dad was a very hard working, caring, loving and very funny man. He doted on his wife, children and grandchildren and will be missed immensly by all of us.

My dad was diagnosed with Cancer 18 months ago, this was a very hard time for all the family. I took this very badly and couldnt imagine life with out him. But We all had to support each other and my dad through out this very difficult time.

The cancer started off in my dads kidney, he had his kidney out but we later realised that the cancer had spread to his bones. My dad went through some very aggressive chemo treatment where he lost some of his hair and the remaining hair went grey, his skin went very dry and he generally felt very ill. On my mum and dads 43rd Aniversary my dad was rushed into hospital with severve pains in his back and later suffered a bleed of the brain. We were later informed that the cancer had gone to his brain. All the family were heartbroken at this horific news. I was there with my mum and sister when the doctors told us he only had months to live. My dad said he was fine with this acting all brave, but with in minutes he burst into tears. It was the biggest pain ive ever experienced in my whole life and will never forget that moment.

I wont go into details beyond this point other than to say my dad was very brave, we had some very special moments and i was there to the very end with him.

I am running the Half Marathon for one person alone... and that is my dad.

He will be my motivation...determintion....strength...and willpower...

I will appreciate every single penny raised for Macmillan. The Macmillan nurses went far beyond their jobs, they were kind, loving ,caring and very special people and i appreciate every moment they spent with my dad.
