On 26th January 2011 I am starting my seven day climb of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania hoping to reach the snow-capped summit, Uhuru Peak, at a momentous 5,896 meters / 19,340 feet. A once in a lifetime challenge, not to be taken lightly. I can expect freezing cold temperatures at night and burning sun during the day. Oxygen levels, at the summit, are only half those at sea level. With virtually no surface water, only lichens survive. The reward for pushing my limits physically and mentally will be the spectacular views from the roof of Africa.
The funds raised will primarily benefit profoundly deaf children in need of cochlear implantation in the UK and France, and also two Tanzanian schools supporting Aids orphan projects.
May I thank you all for your support, now back to training.
