Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my Just Giving page.
Back in April of this year, I was inspired by the BBC documentary about the community of Franciscan Friars of the Renewal, a Catholic order, originating from the Bronx in New York and now here in Bradford.
(I've included a link to an article written by the Telegraph
and Argus newspaper).
Their goal is to restore and raise funds for St Patrick's Church, Bradford. Built from 1852 to 1853, by the Irish Immigrants who came over to Yorkshire to work in the textile industry or to find work. It's the oldest Roman Catholic church still in use in the city and a Grade II listed building.
My Mum and Dad were married there and Dad's work was just around the corner from the church. I recall how beautiful, historic and peaceful the church was, when I attended by Dad's funeral nearly 10 years ago.
It would be such a shame to lose the church due to a lack of funding, so I am doing my bit and joining the 24 mile climb/walk led by the Franciscan Friars and people from the local Bradford community on 5th August to raise funds.

I hope this inspiring story about The Franciscan Friars, and the magnificent work they do daily, with their soup kitchen and their tireless fund-raising efforts for those in need in the Bradford Community, will resonate with you too!
If so, I'd really appreciate any support you can give. Thank you very much.
Wish me luck! Best - Helen :)
