Trek to Petra · 4 November 2023 to 11 November 2023 ·

As part of their partnership with Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM), this November MSMG are supporting CALM in their movement against suicide, the cause of death for 125 people every week in the UK, by hiking the Cambodian hills.

Story

125 lives are lost to suicide each week

  • One in four people in the UK are struggling with their mental health.
  • Suicide takes the lives of 125 people in the UK every week.
  • There are 200,000 attempted suicides each year.

The Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) wants to take a stand against suicide to show that life is always worth living. It runs life-saving services, provokes conversation and brings people together so they reject living miserably, get help when they need it and don’t die by suicide.

I'm walking 75km to raise funds for CALM

To help raise vital funds for CALM, this November I (alongside some MoneySavingExpert and MoneySuperMarket Group colleagues) will be taking part in a five-day 75km trek across the deserts of Jordan to reach Petra. This will be a gruelling challenge with up to nine hours a day of walking.

Just £8 can fund a potentially lifesaving call

If you're able to spare any pennies to donate to this worthy cause it would be hugely appreciated.

  • Just £8 could fund a potentially life saving call or webchat to CALM's helpline, which is open 365 days a year and answers a call every 59-seconds.
  • £51 could help CALM have 100 potentially life saving chats through WhatsApp.
  • £96 could help CALM answer 12 potentially life saving calls to its helpline.
  • £154 could help CALM provide specialist and topical training to a helpline worker.

Thank you in advance for all of your support.
