Story
I am running the London Marathon next year for the Lewis Moody Foundation which is part of the Brain Tumour Charity in memory of my friend Anne-Marie who lost her life a few years ago and all my other friends who have been impacted by this dreadful illness.
Anne-Marie was a fit, funny and beautiful Mum of two young kids when, in August 2014, it was discovered that the headaches she had were much more than that. She died in May 2015 when Annabelle was only 4 - the day after her funeral was William's 2nd birthday. She was 42 - the same age I will be when I take on this challenge. I figure that if she can go through what she did with humour and dignity, the least I can do is attempt to run 26 miles in order to stop others suffering in the same way.
Sadly, Anne-Marie is not the only person I know who has been impacted by a brain tumour. My close friend Vicky's son Charlie suffered from a brain tumour a few years ago. Thankfully, his brutal treatment was successful but he has to be checked for the rest of his life. Other friends (Bob & Rebekah) have also been hit, and I know of too many other people who have lost friends and family. You are all inspiring me every step of the way.
Whilst I've done a few half marathons, I'm not a natural runner and so this is a real challenge to me. Every penny you give will make it all seem that little bit more worthwhile, and I really, really appreciate your support.
