Story
Hi, I'm Helen, I am climbing the Welsh 3 Peaks with this team of fantastic mums to raise funds and awareness of the wonderful work that Ty Hafan does. As a family, we have especially benefited from the amazing sibling team that has been there for my children since the sudden death of my eldest son at 7 years old. Being part of the siblings group has given my children the opportunity to connect with others through an often unspoken understanding in a setting that is safe, supportive and fun. My teenage children have volunteered in the 3 to 11 year olds siblings group as their way of giving back for the support they have received and hopefully are role models for younger children showing them there is a path through. My children's resilience and compassion makes me proud every day.
As a group of either bereaved mums or mums of children with serious illnesses we are all in a club we didn't want to join but, here we are, taking on this challenge together the same way we approach our lives - with determination and courage! Even though our 3 Peaks challenge isn’t until May, we have already succeeded in so many ways, particularly in the sense of belonging and shared purpose we have found as a group.
On 7th May, the plan is simply to put one foot in front of the other and see how far we can go...whilst taking the scenic route!
Grateful for any donations no matter how small for this wonderful cause.
