Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As you already know by now I was diagnosed with Breast cancer on the 24th June 2014. To say it came as a bit of a shock was an understatement. As a Staff nurse myself at the Christie hospital I work with cancer patients on a daily basis and fully understand what they and their families go through. Once the boot is on the other foot it becomes a whole new ball game. I am currently being treated at the Victoria Breast unit at the Royal Oldham Hospital under the consultant there = Miss Maria Bramley, From the start all the staff who work there have been fantastic, nothing is too much for any of them. I have undergone surgery on the 6th August and I am now waiting for a date to start Radiotherapy. I want to give something back to their appeal that was set up a few years ago the LINK4PINK appeal and therefore I have decided to do a year long challenge to raise money for the staff and patients who attend there. Initially I want to buy some I PADS/ NEW LAP TOP so the macmillian nurses/ staff can show patients before and after pictures of the surgery they will be having.
I have been kindly joined in my year long appeal by a truly insperational lady and someone I call me friend. Helen Pedroza. Helen is also a nurse and has also has breast cancer and undergone surgery and was treated by the same consultant as myself at the Victoria Unit.
We are both being supported by some amazing friends who will be helping out with some of the events coming up over the next few months ..LIMITED EDITION HAIR AND BEAUTY have kindly offered to sponsor our efforts over the year and the wonderful JACKIE DIJON will be helping us out at some special events being planned .
We have lots planned for the kids . families and adults so watch this space.
I have had lots of messages from friends who are doing various fundraising events on my behalf and I thank you from the bottom of my heart I will Kick cancers ass, but whilst I am doing that lets get some money raised to make things a little easier for the new patients that will be attending the unit but dont know yet x
