Story
Mission – "Get yourself up the mountain", a challenge set by our beautiful and brave sister, Lorraine, who we lost very quickly to Pancreatic Cancer in December 2021 and only 4 months after losing our mother. It was a very tough, difficult and immensely sad time, but our sister braved her illness with kindness, stoic and her forever love of others. Now joined by my brother, David, the challenge set by Lorraine to me and in her memory to continue her values and raise funds for Isabel Hospice who gave her, and us, support and provided incredible service during that time.
We are so thankful to the nurses who looked after Lorraine in her last month, they were amazing and we can’t sing their praises enough for their support and care given to our sister. Whether painting her nails, taking her on visual walks or just chats. A small charity with compassionate, devoted staff and volunteers who are dedicated to making positive palliative care experiences.
Isabel Hospice provides palliative support to the 370,000 people who live in eastern Hertfordshire. Hospice care is about helping people to live well for as long as possible and have a good death in the place of their choice when the time comes. Without your help, they can not make this possible for their patients and families. Each year they care for approx 2,000 people but they know there are even more people that need their help.
In mid October we will be climbing one of the worlds 'Seven Summit's and the highest mountain in Africa over 10 days, we will need not only strength, stamina and mental determination, but will also need to acclimatise to the altitude.
We know we are in difficult times, but anything you can donate will make a big difference to the lives of others and in memory of our dearly missed sister, Lorraine.
Thank you
Helen and David
