Story

Most of you reading this would never have thought you'd see 'Helen Farr' and 'running' in the same sentence so once you've got over your initial shock please read on...

It breaks my heart to think there are Mummys and Daddys, Brothers and Sisters, Aunties and Uncles, Grandmas and Grandpas who will never see that special little person in their lives grow up. Never walk them to school, never take them to the prom, never teach them to drive and never see them get married or start their own families. The things most of us take for granted.

When You Wish Upon a Star are a small charity whose primary aim is to grant the Wishes of children between the ages of 2 - 16 years old suffering from life threatening illnesses. All children have Wishes but for these children and their families that Wish is so much more precious and for the duration of their Wish, these children are able to forget about hospital routines, doctors, gruelling treatments and have the chance to smile, laugh and enjoy life like any other child.

These experiences are also very special memories for the familes to have and something to remember and keep them going when things get tough.

I know The Great North Run is going to be hard and I know its going to hurt but my pain is nothing compared to the pain these little children and their families go through. So, if by getting fit and running 23km on the 15th September I can put a smile on at least one little girl or boys face it will be worth the pain, sweat and tears and that thought will keep me going when it gets tough.

I'm not expecting to break any world records and if I have to crawl the last bit I will but to cross that finish line will be one of the best moments of my life and to do it alongside my big brother will be amazing.

Nick and I will also be running in memory of our sister  - Louise Emily who passed away in 1976 at only 2 weeks old. We hope to make her proud.

Thank you very much for taking the time to read my page. Any donations will be so greatly received by myself and by the children.
