Story
It’s done! It was amazing, the support along the route was loud and heartfelt. I didn’t know whether to grin like a Cheshire Cat or weep, and to be honest I did both, sometimes at the same time! Although my mind doubted them at times, my legs knew what to do and got on with it. So many charity t-shirts, messages in memory of loved ones, good causes, charities and money raised, crazy outfits, kind words of strangers, everything that makes the London Marathon the unique and brilliant event that it is. The encouragement and support that you all sent flashed into my mind when things got tough, along with the chanting of Harry and Claire “Go Granny, Go Granny” from a video clip, And then it was over, 4 hours, 13 minutes and 43 seconds after crossing the start line.
THANK YOU, I’ve raised almost £1700.00 for Home Start Suffolk.
Dear friends and family,
It’s been a long, hot summer and there have been some long, hot training runs, It’s been tough, but I’m so lucky to be fit and healthy enough to undertake another marathon, despite no longer being in the “spring chicken” age category! So, with the start line in sight, it was by sheer chance that today I learnt about the charity Home-Start in Suffolk, and the desperate struggles that families are facing in the current cost of living crisis.
If you are able to spare a few pounds, Home-Start in Suffolk will ensure it helps families most in need in Suffolk. Thank you.
