Story
Thank you for visiting our JustGiving page.
We will be attempting to swim 35km around the Oman Peninsula to raise money for the Doddie Weir Foundation and the fight against Motor Neurone Disease. We will be based in Khasab on the Oman Headland and swimming 6-7km a day around the Oman fjords. Training started earlier this year and has involved a mixture of pool, river and sea swimming….. and a lot of laughter and achy muscles!!
Earlier this year, we lost Adam to Motor Neurone Disease after an inspirationally heroic battle with this incredibly cruel disease. Adam always loved to set himself extreme endurance challenges and go the extra mile, literally. During the last year of his life, when many of his muscles were failing, he cycled the equivalent of the Tour de France.
Adam was a man who seized every opportunity that came his way, believed in making the most of every day and going out of his comfort zone. He would always say… “don’t just talk about your dreams, get out there and do it. Life is for living. If not now, when?”
With this in mind, we are embarking on our swim challenge!!!
The Scottish rugby legend, Doddie Weir, set up the My Name'5 Doddie foundation to raise funds for progressive research into Motor Neurone Disease and to aggressively accelerate the search for a cure and treatment for MND.
We are self-funding the trip, so all your generous donations will go in full, straight to the Doddie Weir foundation. A huge thank you for your support and thank you to Adam for inspiring us to go out of our comfort zone and embark on this adventure.
