Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As you know, I'm not good at getting off my backside to help deserving causes, or for that matter, to do any exercise these days, but when I left St Gemma's having visited Andrew there, I was shaken by how little of their budget came from government in one form or another, and how much they have to find themselves in order to deliver the amazing care, respite, support and dignitas they do. There are hundreds of worthy charities that warrant support but I think because I have known several people who have either worked at hospices or sadly, spent their final days in one, and because it's local, I just felt that I'd have a try at something.
So..... I am currently four weeks into St Gemma's 'Swimming the Channel Challenge' (sounds impressive, but actually it's a softees version). I have twelve weeks to swim the equivalent mileage of the Channel which equates to 1,344 lengths of a standard swimming pool; an average of 112 lengths a week. Thus far I am on target, having passed the seven mile mark. I have to complete by April 7th.
