Story
I have the pleasure of leading TMK's charity partnership with Guy's and St Thomas' and recently found myself encouraging my colleagues to take part in the St Thomas' abseil to which someone said, "why don't you do it?" There are, in my opinion, many reasons why I shouldn't do it. I don't like heights, not one bit, and I certainly would not describe myself as a "thrill seeker". It was, I reflected, a good retort and got me thinking .... I have been through much tougher times in that hospital, as have my family, than I am sure the prospect of abseiling 160 feet will be. Our experience has made me eternally grateful for the lifesaving treatments the hospital has offered us. I will remember this on the afternoon of the 23rd September as I lower myself over the edge.
The purpose of doing such a stupid thing (for me) is of course to fundraise and I would be thrilled with any financial support you can offer. I appreciate it is a difficult time financially right now so I would be extremely grateful for any contribution you feel you can make. My generous company are matching all donations so anything you can offer will go further.
Thank you in advance for reading my story.
I will be bringing my kids along on the day as this will be as much a part of their story as mine.
