Story

Myself and two friends have decided to challenge ourselves and walk 26.2 miles for The stroke association.  Don’t panic, I am not going to walk this all in one day!!! Walk your way is a charity walk you can do over a course of 2 weeks - June 17th to 30th.  As the name suggests you can walk your own way, wherever you want and for how ever long you want with the aim of completing 26 miles over the 2 weeks at your own pace.

If you know me, you probably already know that about a year ago I was diagnosed with arachnoiditis, which sounds like I have swallowed a spider, but in fact means I have webbing (hence aracoid) and a lesion on my spinal cord.  This has affected my balance and mobility and walking can be very painful, so this is going to be a bit of a challenge physically.

Marathon Mums are 3 friends who met in the school playground, as many good friendships start.  We have also bonded as we all have different levels of disabilities or illnesses that mean our balance, mobility and energy levels are compromised.  So we will often be found in the local cafe sharing and talking together and encouraging each other in the ups and downs of life. Walk your way would be a physical and emotional challenge for each of us, but we hope we can encourage one another along, and raise money for a great charity.  Please support us if you can.

We would love you to donate and encourage us with this challenge.  If you are local feel free to come along for some of the walk (slow stroll!)  as this would help or efforts and motivate us.

The Stroke association says - When stroke strikes, part of your brain shuts down. And so does a part of you. Life changes instantly and recovery is tough. But the brain can adapt. Our specialist support, research and campaigning are only possible with the courage and determination of the stroke community.
