Well, myself and my lovely friend Heather are going to be flying out to Nepal next March, to climb to base camp on Mount Everest in support of beat, a charity helping those struggling with eating disorders.
Please donate as little or as much as you wish. Every penny is appreciated! Beat do wonderful work to support all those struggling with eating-disorders and their successes are so under-publicized.
I have struggled with an eating disorder for years. After a difficult six months in therapy, thankfully I'm now well on the road to recovery. But for many people out there still struggling, beat's huge network of resources and support help them to progress daily. More importantly, it shall continue to change the lives of those struggling with eating, and their families and friends who are affected.
A lot of stigma has developed around mental illnesses, particularly eating disorders as they are not commonly understood.
Eating disorders have the highest mortality rate of any mental illness, as it gradually develops into a physical one. The recovery rate is still only a low 35%, but with the fantastic work organised by beat, that figure shall continue to rise. I intend to support them, and this challenge will be a life changing experience, and a real test of physical fitness.
I shall be updating on my training program and any fundraising events coming up, I'll be training hard over the next few months and working hard to raise the money for this climb!
Please support us on this journey :) love and thanks xxxxxxx
