Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
At PACE children with physical disabilities such as cerebral palsy find their own voice, walk their own steps and discover that they can fully enjoy everyday life and become active members of society. Cerebral palsy is a physical condition affecting movement as a result of damage to the brain.
We believe in each child’s ability to learn despite their disability. We provide a loving and inspirational environment, motivating children with physical disabilities to work hard at achieving goals.
Our focus is on ‘educating for life’ – developing a child’s social, emotional, communication, academic and motor skills. Every child’s achievement is a direct result of our unique staff team, all working together in one centre with the child at its heart. Find out about staff vacancies.
Why PACE needs your help. One in every 400 children in the UK is affected by cerebral palsy. Your support enables us to reach children and families though intensive programmes, training and outreach. We depend on donations from trusts, businesses, groups and individuals. The First Steps Fund supports our early years Parent and Child (P&C) services.
For children with physical disabilities even simple tasks can be their 'Mount Everest'. On 5 November, PACE children will attempt new physical challenges at Stoke Mandeville Stadium in their Children's Challenge event. It's Challenge Time is a cool way for anybody to face their own challenges big or small. Take the Challenge Time quiz here revealing your ideal challenge.
On 4th November I am challenging myself to spend a day in the life of a non-verbal child - for a whole day at work I will only use non-verbal means of communicating. this can (and will!) include using facial expression, body language, gesture, signing, objects, photographs, symbols and voice output communication aids (VOCAs).
