Story
Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever. Until the day we find a cure, we will create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.
I love walking, usually with my dog Archie, but have never gone this distance in one go. But I like a challenge, so...I am going to walk 13 miles across the Peak District on a hot August day to support those who have lost loved ones or been affected by Alzheimers in any way.
My lovely, bright, intelligent and active mum, Frances, now has advanced Alzheimers, she loved hiking in the Peak District and I took her out onto the hills regularly until her Alzheimers became too severe. She may have forgotten the routes she taught me and forgotten the hours we spent out there together, but I am doing this for her and to help fund research and improve the lives of those living with dementia and their carers.
Any donation, large or small, would be very welcome and will help make a difference to people like my mum, please help if you can, every penny adds up!
