Story
Thank you for sponsoring me!
I am running the London Marathon in order to raise as much money as possible for Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY). Its a fantastic charity that is supported by my family after the sudden loss of my cousin, Marcus, at the age of 28. CRY aims to raise awareness of sudden cardiac death in young people - a silent killer responsible for taking the lives of at least 400 apparently "fit and healthy" young people every year.
Your donation will be used to assist with running CRY's national cardia screening programme, provide bereavement support, increase research and generally raise awareness of the issue (further details at www.C-R-Y.org.uk)
So the least I can do is attempt to run 26.2 miles for such a worthy cause and even if you can only sponsor £5 all the money will be greatly appreciated by myself, CRY and all those families who will be helped through the charity.
And it hasn't been an easy journey so far! I've suffered from every ache you can imagine, had to take 6 weeks out with sciatica, have had to run in all weathers, including the snow this year, have got through gallons of vaseline and have had to endure some really hideous music on my iPod!
I ran my first half marathon on 22nd February in Brighton and (just about) managed it in 2hrs and 2 mins, and have 2 months left to find the energy for the other half!
Thanks for your support
