I will be running my 5th London Marathon on 13 April 2014, but this year will be thinking of a special friend every step of the way.  Claire Gibson, a close friend from childhood, was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer in July 2013 and lost her battle with the disease on 18 December 2013, aged only 35!    

Claire was so brave through the illness and spent her final days at Rowcroft Hospice, where she received the best care and support possible in the most peaceful environment.  The hospice provides specialist care to those with life limiting illnesses and relies heavily on donations to cover a large proportion of its running costs.  I will be running the marathon in Claire's memory and raising money to help support the continuation of this fantastic facility.
