Story
Our lovely Dad/Grandad/Father-in-law/Uncle, Phil Barton and our fab Mom/Nan/Auntie, Jean Adams, passed away just over 18 months and 12 months ago respectively. We watched them slip away from us over their last few years and now want to do something to celebrate their brilliant lives as they were two such generous hearted, special people who bought lots of love and laughter to us all.
We thought a fitting challenge would be to cycle from John o Groats to Lands End setting off on 25 July and cycling for 3 weeks. Sal is a veteran and has done this before but down the west side of GB so we're going down the east coast this time.
We are raising money to provide more help and support for those with dementia and their carers. Our parents as carers were amazing but it’s a tough role and more support is needed for so many people either with dementia or their carers. We would be grateful for any donation but are also conscious that requests such as these seem pretty
frequent. What would be equally great is if people became a Dementia Friend which is free and can be done online:
https://www.dementiafriends.org.uk/.
This is a great way to support people with dementia and their carers because the more people seen wearing Dementia Friend badges the more we know there are people out there who understand.
Wish us luck! xxxx
14 August and an update!
After 21 days of cycling covering 1170 miles we made it to Landsend from John OGroats. The support we have received has been mind blowing and we can't thank you enough. We received over £100 in sponsorship from people we met along the way!!!
There were some tough parts but it's been a blast and we are lucky to have had this amazing experience and raise money for such an important cause and we hope encourage more people to sign up as Dementia Friends.
