Story

Hi, I'm Heidi Grace Searle and I am 9 years old.  When I was 4 my best friend Ella Block died of Sepsis.  Everyone used to think we were twins because we looked so alike.  We loved going on holiday together and giggled A LOT!

Please can you help me raise money for The UK Sepsis Trust by sponsoring me to cut off (almost all) of my hair.  I will be donating my hair to The Little Princess Charity who make real hair wigs for children with hair loss, so you should definitely sponsor me as TWO charities are going to benefit from my hair being chopped off!

Did you know that Sepsis kills 8 million people every year worldwide?  In the UK 44,000 people die - that's more than the deaths from HIV/Aids and road traffic accidents combined, often as it is misdiagnosed. Ella would still be here today if the GP's and hospital staff had diagnosed and treated her for Sepsis correctly.  I am raising money for The UK Sepsis Trust because they train medical professionals to spot the symptoms.

Thank you so, so much.  A free hug to anyone who sponsors me!!!

Love,

Heidi Grace Searle

Sepsis accounts for 48,000 deaths annually in the UK, that’s more than breast, bowel and prostate cancer put together. Sepsis is what happens when our immune system overreacts to an infection. Symptoms initially present as flu like but can rapidly deteriorate into a life threatening condition.
