Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I wanted to do something this year to challenge myself and honour Dylan, my friends 8 year old son, who died in December 2020, whilst raising much needed funds for brain tumour research.
Dylan was diagnosed with a brain tumour in May 2014 when he was just 2 years old. He underwent countless brain surgeries, received 6 weeks of high dose radiotherapy and spent years having chemotherapy. He died just a few weeks before his 9th birthday.
After much deliberation I have decided to run 2022 kilometres over the course of the year. This is significant, not just because its the current year but, because Dylan was born in 2012 and he would be turning 10 this year. I will be running 1 kilometre for his birth year and one extra kilometre for every one of his birthdays.
The money raised will go towards the £2740 Team Dylan needs to sponsor a day of research at a brain tumour research centre of excellence. Team Dylan has already sponsored 8th January 2021, Dylans 9th birthday and are now aiming to sponsor 8th January 2022, Dylan's 10th birthday. The long term aim is to sponsor all of Dylan's lost birthdays to help ensure other children get to celebrate more birthdays than he did.
