Story
Another year, another chance to drag myself around a 12km obstacle course that just so happens to be drenched with cold muddy water.
Not going to lie, I enjoy taking part in this event every year - I do it with a great bunch of people, I love the physicality of it and most importantly, it raises funds for charity.
Autism Parents Together provides support to children/young people aged between 0-18, either diagnosed with or undergoing assessment for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). They also support the parents/carers and siblings. The main goal of the charity is to reduce the social isolation of autistic children/young people and their families.
For those of you who don't know, my eldest was diagnosed with Autism 2 years ago and my youngest is also now under assessment for ADHD, in which many of the traits are the same as ASD. In addition, I was diagnosed with ADHD in March 2023. Neurodiversity is generally genetic and until recently, not understanding myself fully, I have spent many years facing socially awkward situations because not everyone is understanding of my children (or me). Charities such as Autism Parents Together provide an inclusive and safe environment for children to be who they are ( and rightly so) and a chance for their potentially Neurodiverse siblings and parents to relax.
This charity gives alot to the local community and helps lots of children who are let down by under-funded schools and SEN provision.
If you could even share just £1, it would mean a great deal to alot of people.
