On 15th April 2012 I have decided to have a go at running the Brighton Marathon, yes thats right RUNNING no bicycle involved ! I have to admit that this is proving to be one of the hardest challenges I have set myself as I am not a natural runner and quite frankly I miss my bicycle. However, I am determined to give it my best effort as by doing this I am hoping to be able, with your help, to raise funds for a charity that has provided many families including my own with invaluable support and guidance.

The Dame Vera Lynn Trust for children with Cerebral Palsy is an incredibly important charity in the lives of families like my own.  I was lucky enough to discover them early enough to reap huge benefit from  the unique service they provide. Put simply in those early years it was our lifeline.

Discovering that your child has a disability is a difficult time. After the initial joy and happiness of bringing your child into the world, the early weeks, months and years of coming to terms with this disability and understanding how it will affect your child and your families life is not an easy time. It is hugely important that child and parent alike receive the right type of support. I am hugely grateful for all the practical and emotional support that we received when we needed it and now that I have a bright and happy fifteen year old........  ok ok a typical teenager who is full of independance and happy to express her own opinion !!  I can see what a major role our happy Mondays spent at School for parents played in helping to get Heather to where she is now.
