Story
In 2007 3 of the Misfits (Cathryn, Chris and myself) completed Trailwalker in 26 hours 30 minutes.
This year was a bit different! One of the team - Keith finished in 16 hours with an ankle injury, Danny in 21 hours, I crossed the finish after 23 hours and 40 minutes and Darren finished in 28 hours.
People have said - 'oh it must have been easier this year knowing the terrain' - I'm not sure! After you've walked for 20 hours and are tired knowing that there's a steep stony hill to climb just round the next bend does provoke the odd swear-word!
Nevertheless I did it within the 24 hour hour target I set myself with only 1 blister!
Trailwalker is a fantastic event - 2,000 people started the walk on Saturday 19th July and 1,660 finished within the alloted 30 hours. It is a physical and mental challenge and a real team effort between walkers regradless of the team they are part of and support crews.
I is also an opportunity to assist Oxfam and the Gurkha Welfare Trust in their efforts to eliminate poverty and social injustice in our world, so THANK YOU very much for your support.
