Story
My Crohn's disease has given me extremely high-risk pre-cancerous lesions throughout my colon. In September or October, I will have surgery for a complete colon removal + "Barbie Butt" + permanent ileostomy (stoma/bag).
While I'm grateful to have the opportunity to dodge certain colorectal cancer before it happens, the prospect of living with an ostomy is daunting, and I'm grateful that organizations like Ostomy Canada exist to help new patients adjust to our new way of life.
Ostomies save lives!
When I heal, I want to be an advocate for ostomates and help normalize our disability. Supporting Ostomy Canada seems like a great place to start. 🥰
