Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My name is Heather Mitchell and it is my great privilege to be the Manager of the Hospice at Home Service at Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice in Cheltenham. I have worked in Palliative Care at Home for over 20 years having joined this amazing charity relatively recently and have been looking for a specific event to support ever since. Baden Powell has a lot to answer for !
Nursing those for whom life is short has made me a very humble person indeed and no matter how difficult or painful this challenge may be it will pale into insignificance with what our patients sometimes have to face on their journey. It is a journey they do not take alone though; we are with them every step of the way as we try to ease their suffering, provide support to those they love and try to ensure they are where they want to be, doing what they want to be doing, with those around them who matter.
I hope I do justice to the memory of those people who are no longer with us but whose passing was somehow eased by the incredible care of Sue Ryder. Thank you for reading this and thank you on behalf of those patients I am yet to meet but for whom we will be able to provide incredible care because of the generosity of people supporting events like this.
