Heather's 'Beat' Charity Fundraiser

'Beat' Charity Fundraiser · 27 February 2017
I am fundraising for Beat, the UK's eating disorder charity. They offer wonderful support on so many levels to anybody affected by an eating disorder and deserve as much support as possible. This include those suffering form eating disorders, as well as their friends, family and loved ones. Having recently come out the other side, after struggling with eating disorders for several years, this charity is particularly close to my heart.
I've organized this fundraiser to use the arts to bring people together in support of Eating Disorder Awareness Week (EDAW), as I have personally found the arts to be soothing in times of difficulty and have also given up chocolate for a month to help raise even more money.
Beat supports anyone with an eating disorder, their friends and family, as well as professionals working with or worried about an individual in their care. These serious mental illnesses include anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa and binge eating disorder. 725,000 people in the UK have a diagnosed eating disorder. They affect people of all ages and backgrounds, and up to one in four sufferers are male. Eating disorders cost the UK's economy £16.8 billion each year.
