Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever.Until the day we find a cure, we will create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.

My lovely Mum, Stella Ward, has Alzheimer’s and dementia and is being expertly looked after at Hartwood House in Lyndhurst.  She spent her life looking after her family, my Dad and my sister and me. 

She began her working life as a Norland Nursery Nurse which took her to the Isle of Wight where she met my Dad. She ran a busy nursery school in Brockenhurst and has also been a teaching assistant in a primary school. 

After retirement she and Dad had some amazing trips abroad including Canada and Australia, not to mention many European holidays.

The devastating effects of Alzheimer’s and dementia has sadly taken away her independence and ability to live out her life at home with her family.
