Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I entered Miss Diamond for fun and to boost my confidence, I was doing the school run and going to work and wanted to shake things up. The pageant raised money for well women and the Samaritans and i thought they were good causes.
At the end of July 19 I lost a dear friend and neighbour to suicide, and it devastated me, the questions we ask ourselves following a suicide are fruitless because we’ll never know the answers, but one that has never left me is, If she’d reached out would she still be with us. And that hope, that hope that others in their darkest moment can be helped and that Samaritans are available to try and intervene has been a driving force in completing this journey.
I’m 2020 everything was cancelled, the pageant put on pause, & by the end of the year id developed FND, starting with sight and hearing problems earlier in the year and culminating in paralysis and the need to see a neurologist.
I started the pageant as an able bodied working women and I’m finishing it with limited speach and mobility, but my disability does not define me and I want to finish what I started.
For my self, in memory of my friend, and as an example to others not to give up.
