Story
2014 is a special year for many reasons here in Scotland, but one of them is the celebration of John Muir's life on the 100th anniversary of his death. He loved wild land and was a key figure in helping to protect it in his adopted country of America. Based here in Scotland, the John Muir Trust helps to protect wild land across the UK.
John Muir undertook a 1000-mile walk from Indiana to Florida - in one go! So in 2014 I'm also aiming to walk 1000 miles (with my terrier Twiglet), but in bite-sized pieces over the whole year. We'll only be counting walks that are in green or wild places - like parks, hills and beaches.
We started our walk on January 1, 2014 and will carry on till December 31st. We'll blog, tweet and post about it so that you can see how we're doing towards our goal. If you'd like to sponsor us and help protect our wild land, this is the place to do it!
