Story
There are 3 million people living with cancer in the UK today and it's even more heart breaking when family and friends are impacted.
Our dear friend, Charlotte Spencer, and her husband Glen have been affected this year by a rare form of cancer while awaiting the arrival of their first child.
Glen was diagnosed with a liver tumour and had to be moved to the Liver Unit at Cambridge University Hospital, due to the complexity and size of his tumour. Glen had a lifesaving operation to have the 16.5lb tumour removed, along with two thirds of his liver. Following the operation Glen has made fantastic progress and now faces further treatment, which will require the help of Cancer specialists and support workers.
To show our support Gillian, Agnes, Frances and Suzanne are walking (Suzanne is cycling) 400 miles between them over the month of October. For those that know them well this will be a big challenge for them... especially with the dark nights setting in!
Please donate generously so that we can help Glen and families like them to get the help they need. If we reach our target NatWest Bank will also donate £750.
What Macmillan use the money for;
£71 could help run our Online Community forum for over 3 hours. Typically, that would give nearly 198 people affected by cancer both emotional and practical support.
£100 could pay for a person affected by cancer to attend a health and wellbeing event, providing them with skills to improve the management of these areas in their lives.
£350 could pay for a Macmillan grant that helps a family affected by cancer take a holiday and enjoy precious time together.
£606 could pay for a Macmillan Support Worker for a week, helping patients, family members and carers manage the social and practical problems of living with cancer.
£1135 could pay for a Macmillan nurse for a week, helping people living with cancer and their families receive essential medical, practical and emotional support.
