Story
On the 20th September 2018, I will be going on my first international visit with Human Relief Foundation to the Kutupalong refugee camp in Bangladesh - the largest refugee camp in the world - to visit the Rohingya refugees there and to see the work of the various projects that have been set up by Human Relief Foundation, which include the HRF School and the HRF kitchen project.
I will be raising money for both projects.
The HRF school currently has 150 students. We want to expand the school and double the number of children who can attend.
It costs just £6.50 a month for a child to be enrolled into the HRF school. That's £78 for the whole year. This includes the child's uniform, books, stationary and snacks. They are taught a range of subjects such as maths, English, Burmese, life skills and personal hygiene. The school employs qualified teachers who themselves are Rohingya refugees.
The HRF kitchen provides hot, nutritious cooked meals for 1,100 children, including the students of the HRF school. We want this number to double too. It costs £500 to run the kitchen a day, costing as little as 40p per child, per meal! Again, this project also employs the refugees to run the kitchen, giving them a source of income.
I will be there to personally hand deliver the aid entrusted by you.
