Story
On Sunday 2nd October my sister and I will
be running the London marathon with Team Breathe in memory of our dad, who passed away in November 2020 as a result of pulmonary fibrosis.
When dad died, we were overwhelmed by the
love and support that we received from our friends and family. We would now like to pass on this love and support to others who are impacted by lung diseases so that fewer people need to feel the immense pain of losing a loved one.
We have therefore chosen to fundraise for Asthma+Lung UK (formerly British Lung Foundation) who do groundbreaking work in the field and it is our hope we can help others to breathe a little easier with your support.
Although lung disease is the second largest
cause of mortality in the UK, accounting for one in five deaths, its research funding attracts only 2% of government funding. The demand placed on Asthma+Lung UK for research funding is substantial and is increasing every year.
Although semi regular runners, neither of us have ever run much more than a half marathon before so this will be an incredibly challenging test. We hope that when the going gets tough, your support to such a worthy cause and the memory of dad will get us through.
We realise this is a difficult financial time for lots of people, so any donation no matter how small would be greatly appreciated.
