Story
Harry and Hazel are thinking outside of the box for this challenge, but remaining within government guidelines in order to keep our front line NHS staff safe. We are using our daily outdoor exercise allowance in a positive fashion to keep fit, achieve some personal goals and raise much needed funds for White Lodge.
One of the huge privileges of being a paediatric physiotherapist at White Lodge is that I spend time in the company of children such as Harry. He and his family work hard with me to achieve the goal of enabling him to enjoy many age appropriate activities and become as independent as possible in the future.
Harry is a delightful 3 year old cheeky chap who rises to every challenge with a positive attitude. He has Cerebral Palsy and for him, this means that mobility is more challenging than for his peers. He can now walk with a walker and as part of my therapy goals, Harry was assessed for an adapted tricycle. This was delivered 6 weeks ago. What an opportunity this is to practise cycling to improve his fitness and endurance.
Having gained my cycling proficiency on a borrowed bike many decades ago, and hardly been on a bike since, my cycling skills leave a great deal to be desired. Using my daughter's bike, this seemed like an opportunity for me also to practise, improve my fitness and conquer this skill.
Consequently, our joint goal of riding 103 miles between us is a true challenge. Our goals are 3 miles and 100 miles, I'll leave you to guess whose goal is whose!
We would be hugely grateful if you feel able to sponsor us in this feat of endurance and balance.
