So, how could I refuse a request from Starcatchers to join their running team? Expecting Something is a really important community outreach project working with young parents and their babies. I was lucky enough to work on the pilot and I've seen the huge impact it can have on the families involved. You can see a wee documentary about it on vimeo if you want to know more, and hear it from the participants:

Around 15 months ago I couldn't run for a bus. I decided to make some changes in my life, and people around me have noticed a big difference. And, as part of that, now I run! As I've plodded around Arthurs Seat this year in the rain, the dark, the hailstones, the early mornings and
occasionally in beautiful sunshine on a Sunday, I have imagined that one day I would be confident enough to take on a big running challenge. Bigger than the challenge of jiggling about wearing lycra in public, bigger than the challenge of not crying in exhaustion whilst being overtaken by small children in a race, and bigger than the challenge of not eating EVERYTHING in the fridge when I get home. And here it is- my first half marathon.
I have so many wonderful people around me and I am very grateful for all the encouragement, the advice and support I am lucky to receive.
