Story

Introduction:

In 1954, Abraham Maslow created a hierarchy of needs to explain humans needs. He gave a five-stage model in which Self-actualization is the highest level of hierarchy that humans perceive to achieve
in their life. However, one thing must be kept in mind: these hierarchical levels are not linear. Rather human beings jump to different tiers levels in their lives. This five-stage model consists of Physiological, Safety and security, Love and belongingness needs, Esteem, and at last, the level of self-actualization.

What is self-actualization?

Self-actualization refers to the need for fulfillment, knowledge of one's purpose, personal and professional growth experiences. This is the level most individuals desire to achieve, as it helps people unlock their true potential. Likewise, achieving the level of self-actualization means realizing one's maximum potential.

This also shows that an individual has no more concerns about the physiological needs —the basic food, shelter, sex, and clothing needs. Likewise, the person has transcended from the lower biologically satisfying needs to the soul and spiritual sense of
entitlement.

According to Ghostwriting Services, experts human needs are intrinsically driven in this stage, and the person becomes more focused on
growth rather than focused on deficiency and basic needs.

Another interesting attribute of this hierarchy is that humans are seen as positive light who can achieve greatness and become growth-oriented. Unlike the view of realistic and naturalistic writers and philosophers of the 18th Century who believed the man
is made bloodthirsty, he is selfish and egoistic. Instead of thinking about others, human seeks to fulfill personal goals and desire even if they have to sacrifice the other person.

However, one of Maslow's drawbacks is that he believed self-actualization is a rare attribute to be found in individuals. Not everyone can achieve this top place in the hierarchy. Similarly, young ones are also unable to attain this place.

Here are some of the characteristics of self-actualized individuals, which makes them different from every other person.

 Authenticity:

Self-actualized people are true to themselves and others. They understand that the key to achieving a greater level of humanity is to let go of the harmful things to oneself and others.

They are open to unlock their full potential by being authentic and original. They do not worry about the fake image, but they build their character so strong that it does not waver with lesser instincts.

Resourceful

Self-actualized people are resourceful, and being on the top of the hierarchy, they are the master of their own will. Rather than following someone else's orders, they direct their lives the way they want. Most philanthropists, leaders, artists, and philosophers are on this list.

Love and Kindness

Being aware of their life's purpose, they are generous, open-hearted, and loving to other human beings. They can see the world with a fresh perspective, more so, in a healthy way.

Opinion Maker

They are the person who never assumes or form opinions based on what someone told them. They make their decisions and opinions after studying the whole matter themselves. They are not quick to judge or form judgments based on emotional whims and moods. Gratitude They practice gratitude with an open heart and mind. Their positive behavior often leads people to move their life to positivity and life. They appreciate everything in their lives and about their life. They are the humble and down to earth people.

Purposeful Life

Self-actualized people have a strong purpose in their lives. The shape and spend their lives accordingly. They are never out of touch with others' needs and firmly believe they have a target to achieve in their lives. Henceforth, they view their life as a mission that transcends them from the world level. Think of Mother Teresa or Nelson
Mandela.

Importance of Self-Actualization

In the 21st Century, when we have everything at our disposal, the rate of depression and stress has increased. The rise of social media has made life complicated and complex. It has become difficult to remain happy and satisfied with one have because someone is better
than the other. Unjust comparison level has increased, a number of people end up their lives for being stuck in the hierarchy of love and belongingness. Likewise, millions of people survive daily to meet their ends and live protected and secured lives. Among all those people, some people can come forward and help others because they are filled with love and compassion for everyone. These are the self-actualized individuals. They know they have a purpose in this life, and they have to work hard to unlock their full potential. They have a sense of gratitude and appreciation for others. That can cultivate deep and meaningful relations with others.

Likewise, today's world needs peace and harmony. With the differences of opinions and clash of ideologies, the world needs self-actualized people to bring everyone on the commonality of ideas and work together to better the world together. Likewise, peace is the
option that can eradicate inequality and violence in the world. It can save humanity from being a victim of evils and selfish reasons. Self-actualization will help the leaders and individuals to create a sense of synchronization and unity of the individual. Humans can co-exist peacefully in society regardless of their color, creed, religion, faith, culture, or social background.

Besides, self-actualization helps unleash creativity and artistic expression. Those who are self-actualized are motivated, determined, and have a great sense of acceptance for others.

A few of the interesting attributes of self-actualized people are that they practice gratitude and do volunteer work to benefit society. This helps uplifts society culturally, socially, politically, and economically. Besides, they are not always sacrificing their talents and potential for the sake of others. Rather they use their full potential to help individuals achieve their targets. They utilize their talent for the service of others.
