Story
Hiya,
I am running the Great North Run (13.1 miles) on October 5th!
I like to run for a cause that is close to my heart. My little niece, Poppy, was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when she was only a few months old and was close to slipping into a coma. It is very traumatic for young children and affects family life hugely. You don't realise how complicated this is until you are faced with it. Type 1 diabetes means that you are dependent on insulin for life. These children are often unable to lead normal lives in some respects - restricted by diets and their dependence on insulin.
Every day, blood levels have to be checked as it is hard to determine when a young baby is about to have a hypo. Diabetes type 1 in children requires lots of care and attention especially when insulin levels in the blood have to be checked four times a day.
Please, please, please make a donation so that JDRF can continue to try to find a cause.
Thanks soooooo much xxxx
