Story
Manchester Mind is an independent, local charity, which supports over 5000 young people and adults each year. We believe that everyone deserves to be supported in their mental health needs and we have a part to play in that. Our charity values the commitment of our staff and volunteers, who work hard to ensure services are delivered in a way that enables people to feel heard and involved. Donations and help from our fantastic supporters make a real difference, so thank you for being part of our success this year.
This is the third year Meg and I have competed in the Salford Triathlon but the first time completing the Standard Triathlon distance! But we always like to set ourselves a challenge! This year we have decided to support the charity Manchester Mind. Many of us will either have mental health needs or will have someone close to us who does. Although much is now being done and it is much more accepted to discuss these needs openly many people are still suffering in silence. Meg found herself struggling with depression last year and hid this from us all and it was only when things became too hard to bear that she opened up to us. She has subsequently visited a counsellor which in turn has allowed her to be more open with her family as well. Hopefully, as awareness is raised more people can feel better supported and understood.
Please sponsor us and follow our training over the next 3 months. Hope to see you at the finishing line!
