Story
Accuro is a small, vibrant local charity providing a range of specialist services for children, young people and adults with a disability in West Essex. The services offered by Accuro enable its members to take part in a wide range of social and leisure opportunities, which help to reduce social inclusion, build confidence and encourage independence.
As most of you know, after his premature birth, my son Harrison suffered a brain injury which resulted in the life long condition Cerebral Palsy. As a result of his condition Harrison is unable to walk unaided and has had numerous surgical procedures to help with the tone and tightness of his legs and to help him live more comfortably. Harrison also has development delay and needs a lot more extra help at his brilliant SEN school in Harlow. If you know Harrison you’ll know how fantastic and happy he is and that’s because of the amazing support he gets from his friends, family, school and importantly, charities such as Accuro. Harrison absolutely loves his time at his Monday “Cool Connections” club and school holiday clubs provided by Accuro, it gives him the opportunity to socialise and take part in activities and gain confidence. Without crucial fundraising Accuro could not exist and offer young people with disabilities a chance to thrive socially, gain confidence or encourage independence. In a country that is continually cutting services and funds for people with disabilities, charities such as Accuro need all the help they can get.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story. If you can forgo that Monday morning coffee and donate what it would’ve cost to my charity, I would be very grateful 😃
