Story
Please support The Owen McVeigh Foundation at The London Landmarks Half Marathon on 7th April 2024, funds from this event will help us to continue to create life memories for children living with cancer in the merseyside area.
My daughter Lyra was diagnosed with ALL Leukaemia when she was 16, chemotherapy was gruelling both physically and emotionally for Lyra and all the family. It was unsuccessful for Lyra, which meant she required a bone marrow transplant. We had to first find a donor. During the search for a donor my mum and Lyra’s Nan was also diagnosed with Leukaemia (AML) this was devastating and terrifying news for us as a family. The foundation helped our entire family through the darkest of times. Giving us beautiful memories and precious family time together. We sadly lost my mum in May this year, it’s been a very difficult time. This opportunity to run the Half Marathon seemed like the perfect time to give back - it even falls on Lyra’s second transplant birthday and I know it’s something my mum would have encouraged me to do. Please let’s help give more families some amazing memories.
