Story
Hello everyone! Ok... my motivation for running 13.1 miles: My lovely mum was diagnosed with Retina Pigmentosa aged 30. It is an incurable disease that affects vision and can lead to total blindness. Some days are better than others and things like sunlight can really affect my mums vision. With a lack of peripheral vision and total blindness at night, mum can struggle from day to day. But it's her resilience to carry on that astounds me. Daily tasks like going shopping can be a real struggle for my mum, but she never gives up. Not even when she's tutted at for walking slow, or grunted at for bumping/walking into someone. Because mum doesn't "look" blind, people assume there's nothing wrong. It is her resilience that has inspired me to run my first half marathon. I really don't actually enjoy running and am finding training tough.... but this challenge only represents half the daily challenges my mum takes on every single day. If she can keep going, so can I!! If anything, I'm hoping the guilt that people have donated on my behalf will get me round... so please dig deep! I need all the help I can get! Hayley xx
