Story
Hi all,
If you know me you'll be aware that I've recently been travelling in India, a country which Lepra do their fantastic work in. You'll know this because I'll have gone on and on and on about it. The reason you put up with me doing this is because you are lovely people who obviously realise what a huge impact it had on me.
Lepra are a charity who work in India and Bangladesh to support people with poverty related illness, such as malaria, HIV/AIDS and TB. They do this through helping people to access healthcare and also by helping them out of poverty and fighting the stigma which holds people with these diseases back.
I know that I am a very lucky person. I have my health, I have a lot of freedom and I have a safety net - if everything goes wrong I will get help because I come from a country with free health care and a welfare state. I know that most people in the world are less lucky than me and that some people are incredibly unlucky. I am running the marathon for Lepra because I think they help make the world fairer place and that access to healthcare should not be just a matter of dumb luck. If you are also a lucky person and would be willing to give a few quid I would be very grateful. So grateful that the next time I see you I will give you the choice of an exciting India story or for me to stop going on about it. It's your choice.
