Story

*********November Update********

Thank you everyone for all the donations.  This has been a fantastic effort by so many people.  The HRC year ends shortly but the fight against MND will go on.

*****  June Update *****   Thank you all for your amazing support and also all those supporting the 1000 miles in 1000 days challenge who are giving through this page.

We have just heard that Dr Sreedharan and the team at Kings College Hospital have recently purchased a centrifuge costing roughly £3k so this is going to be our target.    Also they are going to  create a small plaque to put on the centrifuge to acknowledge our support in memory of Neil. Which is really exciting and an amazing legacy.

HRC are supporting research into MND in memory of our dear friend Neil Mustoe who has sadly lost his battle with MND.

Not only was Neil a HRC member, he was an amazing man and a dear friend to many.   He was also an inspiration to a large number of our members through his coaching of the Beginners Course over the years.

We contacted Neil’s family to ask how we could best support the fight against MND.  They put us in touch with Dr Jemeem Sreedharan and his team at Kings College Hospital in London who are researching the protein that is deregulating in motor neurone disease.

Neil took part in this trial over the last two years and had great optimism for a future positive outcome. They are a great team and are working very hard for a breakthrough. Neil was extremely impressed with their work.

Your donations will go towards a specific item of equipment for their research.   Let’s hope we can help the research team as much as possible.
