Story
I am helping raise money for Tearfund’s lifesaving work around the world, helping people to lift themselves out of poverty
For some going without isn’t just a choice for Lent. For Abeer and her children giving things up wasn’t a choice. Conflict forced them to flee their home in fear. Now Abeer and her small children live in a temporary camp in Iraq where it’s hard to get the basic essentials they need to survive.
Sadly, Abeer’s story is not unique. Tens of millions of people around the world have lost their homes, livelihoods and hope in similar ways to Abeer.
Thanks to generous donations, Abeer was able to get some new winter clothes for her children (who were outgrowing theirs). This has made a huge difference.
Inspired by Abeer’s story and as part of a leadership programme run by Tearfund I am going to give up my bed for a minimum of 1 night during the 6th - 13th March to raise awareness for the millions of people who have had to flee their homes due to conflict.
This Lent, will you help us relieve suffering and poverty where it’s most needed?
I would love it if you would join with me in supporting Tearfund’s work by donating to this page.
Thank you 😊
