Story
Hi, I am Hattie and I am 30 years old living with secondary breast cancer.
I was diagnosed with primary breast cancer at 28, went through 5 rounds of chemotherapy and after a CT in March 2020 to check on some pesky lung nodules, my cancer was found to have spread to my chest and I was diagnosed with incurable, stage 4 breast cancer.
I asked my GP for a referral to the Royal Marsden in October 2020 and they have been my treating team ever since! I have found since being at the Royal Marsden I feel safe and supported with my diagnosis. Everyone there from the Consultants to the radiographers, the nurses to the receptionists are really lovely and make sure you understand what is happening and what options you have.
This marathon is a HUGE deal for me, running is definitely not something that comes naturally (think Phoebe from friends!) but I fully intend to give it my best shot for such an amazing cause.
The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity raises money solely to support The Royal Marsden, a world-leading cancer centre. We ensure our nurses, doctors and research teams can provide the very best care and develop life-saving treatments, which are used across the UK and around the world. From funding state-of-the-art equipment and groundbreaking research, to creating the very best patient environments, we will never stop looking for ways to improve the lives of people affected by cancer.
