DATE CHANGE ALERT. ‼️
Unfortunately Harv has a bad foot injury so we’ve had to postpone until the next Macmillan event which is 27th October in Birmingham. Whilst that’s really frustrating it just means we’ve got more time to train and raise money for Cancer Support. Thanks for helping us on our journey.
Harv & Steve
Hello friends, family, colleagues, thanks for taking the time to read our just giving request.
Most, if not all of us will have been affected by Cancer at some point in our lives and many of us have lost friends, family members or colleagues to this devastating and indiscriminate disease.
However, as research and treatment improve, more and more people are surviving and living longer with Cancer, particularly if it’s caught and treated early.
As some of you will know, Harvey is a Cancer survivor having been diagnosed with bladder cancer 5 years ago. He put two fingers up to the disease and kicked it square in the Cahooonas. Macmillan cancer support was always there to assist whenever they were needed.
So to celebrate this positive and uplifting story we have decided to defy our middle aged status and compete in the Hyrox fitness games in Glasgow on March 3rd 2024. We’re doing this to try and raise £5000 for Macmillan Cancer Support who do such a spectacular job throughout the U.K.
In 2023, Macmillan supported an estimated 2 million people living with cancer with vital emotional, practical and financial cancer support through their support services.
So what are we doing ? ( you now know the why )
HYROX is a fitness race.
The race starts with a 1 km run, followed by 1 functional movement. This whole circuit repeats 8 times, taking place in large indoor arenas, creating a unique stadium like atmosphere for all participants. A 1 km run is completed after each functional movement.
Functional movements include:
- 1000m SkiErg
- 50m Sled push 125kg
- 50m Sled pull 125kg
- 80m Burpee broad jumps
- 1000m Rowing
