Story
We've been running together for... well, a while now. Having run several marathons solo, we realised that running is much more fun and much more meaningful when undertaken together. In the past decade, we've run almost 300km worth of marathons and ultramarathons as a pair. So, naturally, we thought we should double that distance in one go by joining Tribe Run For Love III, a monster 6-day 253km ultramarathon in the Azores. This epic challenge is made more grueling by 13,400m of climbing: That's equivalent to running up Everest 1.5 times... and down again!
Tribe is an amazing organisation, which believes in tackling challenges as a team, and using our energy and strength to give back to the world. Their mission to end modern slavery should resonate with all of us, but often it feels so far removed from the everyday concerns which rule our lives. Imagine for a moment being uprooted from everything you know by force or economic necessity, blindly transported, used and mistreated by your captors, often just a wall's width from an oblivious world. It is a privilege to be running free across beautiful landscapes. It is not something we should take for granted. PLEASE give generously to support this amazing cause.
Here are TRIBE's words of wisdom -> There are an estimated 136,000 people living in slavery in the UK. That's more than two victims for every thousand people in the country. This needs to stop. Run for Love III will bring passionate runners together to push the limits of human endurance to fight modern slavery and end human trafficking. Our aim is to raise £250K to raise awareness of trafficking and support the survivors of modern slavery. We are supporting two of the most innovative and impactful frontline anti-slavery projects: Ellas Home - an East-London safe-house providing rehabilitation, accommodation, and support for women exiting situations of trafficking and exploitation. Snowdrop - a Sheffield-based charity providing outstanding long-term follow-on support for survivors.
