Almost three years ago I was overweight, unfit and extremely unhealthy, I was a heart attack or stroke waiting to happen!

During the summer of 2014 I was involved with the commonwealth games as a volunteer and realised that sport has massive health and social benefits. I was fortunate enough to meet a lot of the competitors and discovered they were just normal people like you and me, however they had "focus" and an amazing "can do" attitude. I started running, short distances, actually more of a walk / run thing,  gradually gaining more stamina and getting a little faster. At the start of 2015 I began parkrun and whenever possible, have been at one of these free 5km events. Now almost every Saturday morning you will find me at a parkrun somewhere in the world!

This has ignited a passion, some would say an addiction to running and I have taken part in numerous 10k, 10 mile and Half Marathon events. This is my third time in the last three years that I have run for Cancer Research and the reason is quite simple.......We all know someone who has been taken by this terrible disease, it does not discriminate but in my experience, the people that deserve to suffer the least have been the ones "chosen". There is not a day that goes by that I don't spare a moment to reflect on all these wonderful individuals that have gone far too early, whilst there is still others that bravely fight on through various treatments and procedures as the search to find kinder treatments and a permanent cure goes on. 

I am very proud of my network of family, friends, colleagues, suppliers and clients who have always stepped up and put a few quid in the pot and I am confident you will continue this generosity and support of my latest effort to raise some much needed funding so we can beat cancer, sooner......
