Story
My name is Harry and I have 2 amazing brothers Reims and Cayman. Both of my brothers have been attending Seashell for over 12 years. During these 12 years seashell have supported My family through and though, whether that be in hospital, in the community, in education or within a social occasion. My brothers , Reims and Cayman have an extremely rare life limiting genetic condition that only 6 other children in the world so far have been diagnosed since it was discovered last year. Both boys have severe complex drug resistant epilepsy ( Lennox gastaut syndrome) which can cause them to have up to 800 + seizures a day. At Seashell my brothers are encouraged and supported in every way possible to reach their true potential and to ensure their happiness is paramount.
Seashell understand that caring for a child with special educational needs and disabilities impacts the family in many different ways. That is why they support families by providing short breaks and respite care at their special needs residential school for children and young adults, giving parents and carers short breaks from full-time care and providing children and young adults with a break in a new environment. With their short breaks and respite care, the family can take a break from their caring role with the reassurance that their child will be fully supported by their dedicated and highly experienced staff. The respite care for children offers a change of environments and new experiences, which are incredibly important for general health and wellbeing.
Cayman attends the short breaks at Seashell, as well as School, which provides respite for the wider family whilst Cayman enjoys time with friends and fantastic staff, and giving my mum a well deserved break. Whilst Cayman attends short breaks me and my mum have the opportunity to spend quality time together, with friends, family and accessing things that the boys aren’t able to.
As a family we believe in giving back to the charities that have supported us over the years and I have been fundraising since I was 10 years old. Over the years I have raised over £60,000 by auctioning paintings that I have painted, Running a 5k run, being a guest speaker at seashell charity balls and educating people about the way seashell supports the wider family and how they have been a lifeline to our family and many other families like ours.
Myself and my 3 very good friends Tristan, Josh and Sam are doing a charity skydive in aid of Seashell to enable them to continue to support children and young adults and their families. Please help us to support Seashell by sponsoring us to do this amazing but terrifying attempt to jump out of a plane at 10,000 feet !!!!!!
Every penny counts and we are truly great full from the bottom of our hearts ♥️ Thank you 🙏🏻
